Maeve’s POV
“Maeve,” Draven called as he hurried over to where Dorian, Maggie, and I stood. He closed the distance between us, and I snapped to my feet, my stormy blue eyes locking onto his as tears and anguish threatened to spill over.
“Maeve, I swear I was going to tell you—” he began, but I didn’t give him a chance. Grabbing handfuls of my dress, I stormed past him, racing out of the Castle and plunging into the surrounding woods.
I was completely unraveled, especially emotionally. A raw pain clawed at my bones, a turmoil so deep it felt as if my soul might shatter. I didn’t stop or look back; I just ran, desperate to silence the agony within me. Everything had seemed so perfect—until I learned Thea was pregnant. Pregnant with my mate’s child. Draven’s child. The pack’s future heir. The revelation crushed me.
