Maeve’s POV
I lay awake in my chamber long after the moon had climbed high. Sleep eluded me following my conversation with Lennox. My mind wouldn’t stop spinning through possibilities—that Thea might have taken a lover and that her child wasn’t Draven’s. I even found myself wishing it were true, because it felt better to imagine some other explanation than to admit the obvious: another woman was carrying Draven’s pup.
Admitting it made me sound like a jealous mate desperately denying the truth, but I didn’t care how I sounded.
