Chapter 19

Ember’s POV

When we entered the kitchen, Nate directed us to the table that he identified as ‘The Breakfast Bar’. He introduced us to his Beta Josh, who I remembered vaguely from our last two meetings.

I sat with Becky to my left and Nate to my right with Josh taking his place on the other side of Josh and they chatted happily while Nate kept his arm comfortably around my waist.

Becky introduced me to the Omegas who reacted with a mixture of shock and awe in their greetings to me, but I didn’t miss the disapproving looks that some of the Omegas directed at Becky.

She took it well and seemed to brush it off, but I resolved to keep an eye on it. If she was under my protection, then I would not accept any nastiness directed towards her.

Nate made himself busy filling my plate with food and, despite my protests, continued piling it up.
