Chapter 22

Nate’s POV

I was alone with Ember in the kitchen. Becky had gone off with Josh to help set Ember up with her own card and additional items she might need, and Josh wanted to go through what was expected of her in her role.

Ember was leaned in close at my side, watching curiously as I made warm Chai Latte’s for us both. I figured we could both do with something to warm us up, and this was one of the most comforting drinks I could think of. I hoped she like it.

The tour had gone well. For the most part, the pack members had been receptive to her, and Ember had responded warmly to all of them. There were a few, of course that were not happy, but Josh and I had already had a good idea of the people that may be the most problematic.

She had enjoyed the currently limited commercial area’s that we were in the process of developing, and had loved the food served at the newly opened home-style cafe that we had visited.
