Nate’s POV

Ember had arrived at breakfast in quite a subdued mood, which was to be expected. I wasn’t sure what to say to her after last night. The last thing I wanted to do was make her uncomfortable.

‘Comfort mate. Hold her. Love her. Make her smile.’ Brutus intoned, pacing restlessly as she took her seat next to me silently.

I swallowed nervously. Fuck. I didn’t do nervous. I wasn’t familiar with this feeling at all.
