Chapter 186. The Sword

After a few seconds, the smoke returns and forms another cloud, similar to the first one. The boy pauses in midswing and lowers his sword. He looks at the small cloud once more and swings his sword again, only harder than before.

This goes on for a few more times. Then, the smoke disappears again. Only this time it doesn’t appear a second later. This time, the boy stands frozen in silence for several moments, his eyes staring straight ahead of him without blinking. After what seems like hours, he starts walking toward the trees in the distance.

The girl follows closely behind. They walk side by side for a while longer before the boy speaks up. He begins to explain to the girl why he took so long to notice the smoke.
