Chapter 27
"We should go," the young woman affirmed.
"Yes, we should," Julian concurred.
Elizabeth smiled, rising from her seat. She noticed Julian staring at her, captivated as if her presence alone was enough to make him forget about everything else, even himself. They walked outside where twilight had already covered the sky, and everyone was busy with their pending tasks.
"Will you join me in my tent tonight?" she inquired with a mischievous smile.
"What sinful ideas are you coming up with, miss?" he teased, taking her by the waist.
"What if they involve you?" she pretended to consider. "Too many."
Julian burst into laughter. "I can't stay curious; I have duties to attend to. But there are a couple of things I need to do first," he said, apologizing with a smile.
Elizabeth nodded, rising on her tiptoes to place a chaste kiss on his lips. "Don't worry, we'll see each other later."
They bid each other farewell and walked in opposit
