"Her quarters in the Pharaoh's palace were comfortable enough to make her feel at home. It was obvious that her father had put in a great effort to make her feel at home, although that structure of blocks, sand, and gold was hers by blood and birth, she never felt like she entirely belonged in it.

Nefertiti walked around the room, occasionally releasing short sighs. That must have been the longest day of her life, and she was eternally grateful to the gods that it was finally over; recent events would haunt her for a long time, of that she was sure. She gently sank into the soft pillows.
