Chapter 28
In the midst of sobs, she fell asleep. Perhaps it was exhaustion or some way her mind had to protect her, but the visions subsided. When she woke up, she felt like a truck had run her over, but at least she could see everything more clearly. She mentally listed everything she knew so far to keep from forgetting:
1—She was the current reincarnation of Princess Nefertiti.
2—Her supposed parents were not her real parents.
3—Apparently, those false parents hadn't died, and they believed they were being pursued.
She ran her hand through her hair, struggling to process everything so quickly. Part of her just wanted to keep her head on the pillow, close her eyes, and let everything sort itself out without her having to intervene in any way. She checked the time on her phone (she had to get a new one since the old one was stolen during the attack), and it was almost midnight. Elizabeth jumped up; Julian had promised to come at night.
