Chapter 41
"Hundreds of years ago, there was a prosperous king, beloved by his people as a reward for the affection he showed them," he began as if telling a children's story. "This pharaoh had four legitimate children, born of a union blessed by the gods: two men and two women. Egyptian traditions dictated that the eldest of his sons would succeed him to the throne. However, the pharaoh surprised everyone when he named his eldest daughter as the heir, a young woman of unmatched grace and beauty."
He paused for a few seconds, creating suspense for the raven-haired woman.
"Her name was... Nefertiti," he admitted with a triumphant smile upon seeing the expression in her gray eyes. "Everyone turned against Nefertiti because no one wanted a woman on the royal throne. The situation worsened when a young illegitimate son of the pharaoh was brought to the palace. It could be said that it was the beginning of a real disaster."
