Chapter 54
It had been at least three weeks since Amélie Monsalve's unexpected visit to her house, and she hadn't heard from her since. Elizabeth was both surprised and nervous about the woman's silence. For a moment, she thought that Amélie would continue to insist, but it seemed she would leave her alone. That should make her happy, but for some strange reason, it was quite the opposite. She hadn't expected Amélie to give up so quickly. She had never given the impression of being the type of woman to give in at the first hurdle she encountered.
Perhaps Amélie was planning something more to make her accept the proposal. That could explain her calm demeanor; she was simply trying to get inside her mind and play with her thoughts. She sighed and let her head fall against the tree under which she was sitting. She was starting to become completely paranoid. She couldn't see threats everywhere; hell had ended, and she needed to move on with her life.
