Chapter 57
Munich, Germany.
15 years ago.
A ten-year-old boy raced down the stairs of his two-story house, clearly excited. He had forgotten to comb his unruly chestnut curls and was wearing a different sock on each foot. Family members watched him with amusement as he entered the kitchen, out of breath from the dash he had made from his room. They had all been in the kitchen for a while, as it was their habit to have breakfast at the small table in this room, which was smaller compared to the main dining area.
"Has anyone seen Nana?" he asked in German, not addressing anyone in particular. His tone sounded a bit impertinent for someone so young, but everyone was accustomed to him speaking without much regard for basic courtesy.
