Chapter 26
“Great,” he says. “Because I feel the same way. Anyway, it’s your boss. We should probably make an effort.”
I nod and wrap myself in a towel as he turns off the water. Outside the screen, I swap it for my bathrobe. I’m about to tie the belt when I look down and see the red ribbon tattoo.
Marcus stands a few feet away, a towel at his hips, combing his hair.
“Come here,” I say.
He turns; I crook a finger.
“Whatever you say,” he answers with a smirk, curiosity in his eyes.
I take his hand and guide his index finger along the red ribbon. “Theo Stiles. Kevin Carter. Dan Weiss.” I pronounce each name as I trace the initials. “I didn’t answer you before.”
“A couple?” he asks, though his tone says he knows they aren’t.
“Weapons,” I reply. “Mallets.”
“Tell me.”
I cinch my robe for warmth, though steam still heats the bathroom. I need Marcus, and when he pulls me close, I’m glad to fall into his arms.
