Chapter 14. Wrong Number

When I thought I had just survived the worst day of my life, it turned out to just be the first half.
I should have known that none of the Ridleys would offer me a ride home instead of waiting at the shed of the office for one of them to ask me to tag along. They didn’t. Instead, they gave me the key to the law office and to make sure all electronic devices and appliances were turned off before leaving.
Which I did. I attended to the individual computers first, the lights, the humidifiers, the fridge, and lastly, the light switches. I made sure none of those were left plugged. I wondered if they had a personal caretaker of the office. On times when I wasn’t here yet, who did these things? I guess it was either Nicho or Miggy?
I couldn’t tell, but what I was sure of was that none of the Ridleys would do it. From the glass windows, I saw them parade their cars toward the gate, their plate numbers starting with LWYR. A public announcement of their success
