Chapter 16. Mistakes from the Past

I wanted to say yes.
I’d been delayed for too long. Seeing my friends, two of them in law school, I couldn’t help but think of what could have been if I were a little braver. I could have related to them with their topics. I would have been a legal assistant to the family’s law firm.
I deserved this change, this retribution.
“Okay…”
It was faint, but everyone was holding their breath to hear what I was about to say.
“Wow, that was quick,” Anton side-commented.
Dylan smiled and kissed the back of my hand. I didn’t think he would support this. I was longing for my dream back then, and yet I never sensed that he would also like me to pursue it. To be fair, the circumstances before made that impossible. At least now, I had this chance to make it right.
Dad stood up from his chair and went in my direction. Behind me, he kissed the top of my head.
“I’m proud of you, my little darling,” he said.
