Chapter 93. Hope for the Future

I went home, skipping steps on the way to the apartment’s elevator. When I have good news like this, I can’t wait to tell Olivia. She is surely waiting in the room for me now. She sent me a message on my way home saying she cooked me some creamy chicken. One of my favorites.
The elevator dinged, and I got out to see an elderly couple making their way to the elevator. The old man was helping his wife, who was wearing thick eyeglasses, make her way to the elevator. When they saw me, they greeted me a good evening. I responded with the same greeting.
“Good day to you too, sir,” I said and pressed the elevator door again so that it would open.
“Thank you, son,” the old man said.
I kind of smiled at what he said. A silly thought got into my head: is that how it sounds like? When someone calls you son. I haven’t felt anything like that before.
Silly. I shook my head and shook the thought away. There’s no need to ponder on something I already accep
