The Colosseum quaked with an almost deafening roar as General Claudius Decimus Aurelius entered the scene, joining me at the waiting place. At the mention of his name, the crowd went into a mad frenzy. The previous were instantly swallowed by the repetitive echoes of “Claudius Decimus!” A savage chorus that seemed to shake the very air around us.
It was as sweet as a nursery rhyme, so I had to hold myself back from singing along, although my lips began to move on their own accord with my head nodding in response. The stone walls echoed it with us, causing an ambiance that would cause a man to think he is God!
Red flower petals danced in the air as the women began to toss it in reverence to this person, and with it, the sound of a thousand strangers howling for blood.
For a brief moment, I shut my eyes, letting that noise sink in, wondering if this was that same excitement my mother lamented about each time she mentioned the games. The glory,
