Chapter 32. To Prepare for the Worst

Madeline's POV

I don't know what happened next. Darkness consumed me like forever, but for some reason, it was comforting. The pattering and arguments of the vampires cannot be heard anymore, the party was nowhere to be seen, and it felt like I was floating somewhere. Oh, I wish I could stay like that, peaceful and harmonious. However, it did not last long and I did not wish.

“Madeline. Hey. It’s me, Marissa.” 

When I heard the echoing voice of the countess in my ears, I slowly opened my eyes and the beautiful and angelic face of Countess Marissa in front of me emerged. Her jet-black and straight hair were flowing down from her head beautifully and the plain innocence across her face was addicting to watch. She looked like an angel in heaven; while I feel like I am her devil self. Damn it, how can I be her? I mean, I look like her, but she is way better. 

I blinked so that my clear vision would be restored and breathed in and out. M
