Chapter 38. The Paintings

Madeline's POV

In the middle of my conversation with Marissa, I suddenly woke up from my sleep because of a fragrant dish that I could smell while I was lying down on the bench. I sniffed it in the air before I finally opened my eyes. The first thing I saw was the vast night sky full of stars together with a silver moon above. 

“Looks like the mean princess has woken up.” 

I shut my eyes in frustration when the first thing I heard was the annoying voice of Uriel. Victor also laughed, supporting Uriel’s comment. I sat up on the bench and threw a piece of wood in their direction. They managed to dodge it while eating bowls of hot soup in their hands. 

“Hey!” Uriel exclaimed and playfully glared at me. “Do you want us not to eat for the rest of the night?” 

“If you keep irritating me, I will definitely throw that soup on your face!” I said and grunted.
