Chapter 9. A Helper
I still tried to process all that had happened within such a short time. How did I end up on a campus in an area plagued with cult wars? Why did I leave the safety and comfort of my home and my state only to meet more danger? Ada and I waited in the lobby after we ensured that the injured girl received medical attention at the campus clinic and that the staff informed her family. The doctor had asked us to return later the following day and promised to give us a call when she woke up.
“You still look so worried, Precious. I am sure she will be fine,” Ada said. At that point, I was worried for all of us.
“I just hope she will be okay. She must have been so scared yesterday.”
“Do not worry; she is in safe hands.” Ada did not understand why I was so concerned about her. But then, her situation was very familiar. Although it was about two years ago, a memory popped into my mind.
