Lucas’s POV

The bass from the music downstairs vibrated faintly through the floor of the VIP lounge.

Ian, Calvin, and I sat around a low glass table littered with half-empty glasses. The lights were dim, golden, and the city skyline stretched beyond the glass walls.

Ian had already finished two drinks while Calvin leaned back lazily in his chair after one bottle.

My fingers tightened slightly around the glass in my hand, the whiskey burning slowly down my throat. Every minute that passed felt like wasted time.

Lena was somewhere in this city and yet she wasn’t here with me. The thought of that made my stomach coil.

Ian noticed my silence and sighed. “You’re thinking about her again.”

I shot him a dry look before rolling my eyes.

“Since you really love her so much, why did you let her leave?” Calvin asked as he grabbed another bottle.
