My bluff could either work like it always has, or I’d distract him long enough to pull out my gun.
“I don’t know what Miss Viaos told you…” I started to say when he barked out a laugh. It was a harsh, dry thing.
“Sam knew too?” The gun pressed harder into my head, and I held my breath, staring at the window.

The simple realization that his hand holding the gun was steady, knotted my belly in fear.
