Chapter 46. She Deserves to Be Happy

Ava’s POV

I closed the lid of Sophie’s suitcase with a sigh and zipped it up.

Sophie was so excited that she spun around the living room holding the Disneyland Paris ticket between her tiny fingers like it was a small pile of gold. “We’re going to Paris, Mommy.”

I could not help myself and ended up smiling back at her.

As I folded the last few clothes into my suitcase a series of emotions were swirling inside of me. Mason had been right. Saying no to this opportunity would’ve been selfish, not just for Sophie, but for me too. The Paris trip wasn’t just about Max. It was about the department store, it was about growth, about visibility, about expanding my brand in a way I’d only dreamed of.

But I would be lying

if I said Max being included in all this didn’t make it so much harder.

Could I possibly last a week with him?

I’d told myself I was over him. That I hated
