Ava’s POV

I placed my hands on his chest and pushed him back. “We should go back to Seattle.”

“What?” His eyes widened. “Why?”

“Because we’re finished with the business we came for, so there is no point in waiting around anymore.”

He stared at me in disbelief. “But we had other plans.”

“Cancel it.” I started to dress up.

His hand held mine to stop me. “You mean the Bahamas.”

“Yes. Cancel the trip, Max.”

“Ava…”

“I just want to go home,” she yelled at me. “Please cancel it.”

He backed away with his eyes staring intensely at me. “You’re running again.”

Fully dressed, I stopped to meet his gaze. “That’s rich coming from you.”

He ran his fingers through his hair. “For God’s sake, Ava, I made a mistake once and I’m trying to fix it, why won’t you let me?”

“Because things are fine the way they are, you don’t need to fix anything.” I walked out of the room without wasting for him to respond.
