Chapter 89. Welcome Home
Ava’s POV
The moment we set foot on the Anderson property that evening, I was overcome with different emotions; hope, awe, and some other undefinable emotion.
Max had Sophie in his arms, her small fists clenched around his neck as though she too felt the tension in the air. Raelynn walked alongside Mason, hand in hand with him, but I could see the nervousness in her eyes.
I gulped and looked at Max’s face and he gave me a reassuring smile, the same reassuring smile that was still capable of calming my jangled nerves.
“Ready?” he whispered.
I nodded reflexively, while my stomach strapped itself into the takeoff position. “Let’s do it.”
We did not have the opportunity to knock or ring the doorbell before the double doors swung open wide.
There stood Max and Mason’s parents.
Her eyes flew open. “My babies,” she opened her hands wide with a huge smile on her face and the both of them walked into her arms and hugged her.
