Chapter 25
Her words were meant to offend him and injure his pride, and she won. The expression on his face changed, and he was no doubt regretting ever giving her his precious compliment. Of course he would see his compliments as precious ones, and he did not just compliment people.
“What are your favorite colors?” he asked suddenly while she was still glorying in his wounded pride. She stopped smiling and asked him to repeat himself even though she knew he hated to repeat himself.
“I am not one who has the patience to repeat myself over and over again. I tell you, my favorite color is black, and I want to know what your favorite color is,” he said.
She nodded her head.
“Oh, do not be offended, but I don’t have a favorite color. Whatever color appeals to me is what I stick with, okay?” she said.
He shook his head and muttered, “You could make this easier by simply picking a color that you just like. Surely there are colors that you like over others.”
