Chapter 30
She walked to the car and climbed in. They would be heading straight to the hospital. She was still jittery. Her hands trembled, and she knew he was right. She did not do well behind the steering wheel when she was nervous or angry or even scared. She had to drive only in a relaxed state of mind. The few times she had driven to Ford’s while nervous—on days she was almost late for her shift—she had not had a good time on the road. She had been scared and had almost had accidents on those occasions.
She was not going to go through that again, not today, as Reynolds expertly wove the car among the many cars plying the road until they were almost at the hospital. She kept exhaling loudly. She knew Helen would have prayed for Tony, and funny how Tony always claimed her prayers worked for him every time even though he never prayed himself.
“Well, we are almost at the hospital. You can relax. I don’t think it is anything too serious.”
