Chapter 38
How Antonia wanted to be able to speak back in anger, but she couldn’t. Her jaw dropped, her mind was in a state of dilemma. The same friends she trusted so much. For Sally, she wasn’t all that surprised—they had their flaws and misunderstandings a lot of times—but Nessa? She took her as her sister and best friend. At least she thought.
It was all a set up. The call? The trip to Florida? The whole thing was a big fat sham. She scoffed in disbelief. She wanted to break down and cry but again, why should she? No, she wouldn’t. She would not let those ingrates drop a tear from her eyes.
She had a lot to be thankful for—her name was saved, her family’s reputation. The media had a nose for juicy news and definitely wouldn’t spare her. This was all thanks to Marconi. There was no way she was ready to appreciate him.
“That bastard put a tracker on me? Who does he think he is? Does he want me to feel indebted? No fucking way. Arghhhhhh!” She lashed out in anger.
