Chapter 24. Lewis Nerves Tiana Some More

She looked at him, more like giving him a double take, and the childish part of her wanted to rush into the room and lock herself in so he couldn't get to her. But she thought against it, pulled out the chair she had used for breakfast, and sat down facing him. She just wanted him to be quick and get done with whatever he wanted to say.

If he said anything to annoy her, she was ready to spank the words out of his mouth so he would be dumb forever, if there was a way to do that. She wanted to make it clear she wasn’t there to mess around with him—not now, not ever. He seemed to be a tyrant, and she had prepared herself to deal with him. Even if he didn’t apologize now, she was determined to find a way to change the terms of their contract one way or another.

“I am sorry” was what he had said and somehow it sounded like a distant apology from her and she turned to see if for reals he had apologized to her or she was just dreaming once more and she needed to be smacked
