Chapter 102. Grand View
CHARLOTTE
Suddenly, my phone beeped.
I was sure it was the address that she sent.
I sat up and wiped my face, forcing myself to stop crying.
My eyes were swollen, my throat ached, and my head pounded, but I couldn’t let myself spiral again.
I took my phone and found her text.
“Be fast about it.”
I sighed.
I shouldn’t be going there after she cut off that call but it’s still family. I should just know what this is all about.
I needed to call Leo.
He deserved to know why I suddenly had to leave.
I wiped to contacts and scrolled to his name.
My thumb hovered over the call icon for a second before I pressed it.
He picked up almost immediately.
“Miss me already?” His voice was a low, warm rumble, a sound that usually unspooled something deep in my chest.
Now, it just made me want to cry all over again.
I tried to speak, but my throat was too tight. A broken, shaky breath was all that came out.
