Mei blinked twice—too slow. “No.”

“Great,” Zoey huffed. “I’m sure you have nothing to do with people like him.”

Mei starts walking away, but Musa’s voice called her.

“Mei.”

She froze.

“Don’t you want to hear what I have to say?”

“I have nothing to do with you,” Mei replied sharply. “Stay away from my family.”

“Why?” Musa asked softly. “Because your instinct recognizes something?”

Mei didn’t answer.

Her breathing suddenly became unsteady.

“If you follow me,” she warned, “I’ll have security arrest you.”

Musa’s expression remained the same, unbothered.

That made Zoey so furious.

Who does he think he is? She thought.

“Let nothing happen to Charlotte. That’s all I have to say.” Musa stated and left.
