Chapter 51. One Question
My blurred sight meets an intricately designed roof with a chandelier. The space around me is dark and familiar with a scent that was once close to my heart.
I recognize that scent anywhere. The sweet aroma of boiling herbs and tea.
“Earth to you, Tara,” some old cranky voice tells. A familiar one that I always thought was full of wisdom. I admired and looked up to the owner too.
Trying to sit up despite my aching head, I realize I’m on the floor in Mama Tia’s sitting room.
I find her sitting in her usual couch, sipping her tea while slowly stroking the ring on her fingers against the ceramic mug to create a tiny clinking sound.
“Mama Tia,” I croak out.
The old lady smiles. “Is it Tara or Mellow, darling? I don’t like the confusion.”
