Chapter 58. Dreaming in Death
Zeath reaches for me, concern streaked across his face. “What is it, Mellow?”
“God, my daughter is dead…” I croak out. My tears would fall any second again. This time around I won’t be able to control it. Even my throat itches of my grief. “Eryis is d— dea…d. God…” I let out a cry of pain before Zeath sits on the bed and pulls me tenderly to his chest.
“Shh…” he tries to soothe me. But I just keep on crying. “Eryis is not dead. She’s alive.”
“No. it’s not true!” I shriek. “I watched her die! It’s my fault! I’m sorry! I couldn’t protect her! I—”
Zeath places his palm over my lips to shut me up. All that comes out now are muffled sounds.
“!’m telling you she’s alive,” he whispers, his face now an inch close to mine.
