Chapter 43. A Family’s Betrayal
Suddenly, the little boy crossed over from the seat and went next to his mother. He stretched his stubby arms and began to wipe his mother's cheek. "Please don't cry, Mommy."
"Uhm, oh, what... ahm... I..." Mila couldn't say anything even though she tried to. She was torn... She felt that Eunice's words were heartfelt, but she didn't have the heart to trust her easily. She needed to confide with Edward about this first before she made a decision.
"I know that you're afraid to trust me. Because of my family, you lost Mila and then your Mom. But please believe me that I never wanted to harm anyone. My father and brother were the only ones who wanted your life. And I no longer want to be part of that disgusting family any longer. I'm hurt that they turned out this way, but I can't do anything. But... I'm afraid that they would do something to me once they found out that I no longer trusted them."
