Fallon’s POV
The Salvatore castle moved on from the incident like it was nothing. Although there was a little fuss, it had nothing to do with caring for the dead vamp servants but with the pride of the clan.
Knowing it was a human assassin who killed the vamp servants was a no-brainer. A vampire wouldn’t have hidden on a tree and shot at them with arrows.
I’ve always thought the elites have too many stupid laws. It is okay to kill each other; don’t just get caught.
No proof, no crime.
So even if an elite snaps off the head of another and sets it on fire, if there is no proof, he walks, and everyone is happy a threat is gone.
A human assassin daring to take a hit in their very home, despite who gave the order, was enough to bruise their ego.
Everything suddenly made sense, why Darius refused to do it himself and why of all nights, he picked the night of the ball.
He wanted to humiliate his family, to humiliate his father.
