Chapter 67
Antoine felt almost complete when he woke in the rafters after their long night of lovemaking. He still suffered from terrible guilt over Pierre’s transformation from human to immortal, but he tried not to dwell on it because Pierre had clearly moved on. When he walked out into the apartment, Pierre had seemingly fetched paints from somewhere and was working at an easel in the kitchen, where the floors were tiled and sheets of newsprint had been considerately placed. Antoine had no use for kitchens, but he appreciated the thought nonetheless.
“What’s this?” he asked as he glanced at the painting over Pierre’s shoulder.
“I’m working on expressing my feelings about love and the self,” Pierre replied.
