Chapter 69

When they arrived at Darcy’s, they entered the ground-level pub and ordered drinks to keep up appearances. While there were many vampires present, which Pierre was overwhelmed by, there were also humans who had stopped by for a drink without knowing where they had set foot. At the very least, Antoine didn’t like their chances of leaving without being glamoured or teased. At the very worst, they’d be killed.

“I can’t believe this,” Pierre whispered as he observed other vampires. “They’re here in plain sight.”

“Just remember that you have increased awareness and stronger vision. Regular people—mortals—can’t tell who is present.”

Edgar hadn’t glamoured his victim, simply relying on his charms to invite her along. She flirted and enjoyed the free drinks, which the vampires kept flowing. They made small talk, enjoying the experience in the bar, until Pierre began to fidget as his hunger increased
