Chapter 48
“Tom, at least say something. We know it’s hard to take, but how many more minutes do you want to take to process this?” Rachel said and threw another glance at Martinez.
“Okay, at least tell us what should be done about this new situation. Maybe, we’d go take care of it while you keep processing.” Martinez suggested and Tom puffed another smoked.
The room was draped in an uncomfortable silence as Tom, brooded over the recent string of mysterious deaths that had been plaguing the town. His face lined with frustration, he sat behind his desk, smoke lingering around him from the cigarette he had taken refuge in. Martinez and Rachel, sat across from him, concern etched across their faces.
Tom took a deep drag from his cigarette, the smoke swirling around him like a haze. He exhaled slowly, the tendrils intertwining with the heavy atmosphere in the room. His voice came out in a low growl, laced with anger and despair.
