“So, Tom, how’s Lisa? Whispering sweet nothings in your ear, huh?” Martinez chuckled, a mischievous glint in his eyes.
Tom rolled his eyes, trying not to let his irritation show. Martinez was always pushing his buttons, and today was no different. He knew his colleagues meant well, but sometimes their joking went too far. With a forced smile, he replied, “Lisa is fine, thank you. Just catching up on some weekend plans.”
Rachel, ever the diplomat, sensed Tom’s discomfort and decided to shift the conversation in a different direction. “Hey, Tom, speaking of plans, did you talk to Hank about the werewolves’ allegations?”
Tom’s expression grew solemn, memories of his unsettling encounter with the alleged werewolf flashed in his mind.
