Chapter 10
Sofia's POV
I couldn’t sleep the whole night due to restlessness. I didn’t know if it was because of the unknown surroundings or the known enemies, but I was on edge. It seemed as though someone would break through the window or door at any minute and jeopardize the things I had spent years protecting.
Around 5 a.m., my eyes closed on their own due to tiredness.
“Stop moving around so much, mi amor,” I whispered to Steel as I pulled him in and nestled up against him in my half-dream state. He stopped moving, and I dozed off.
When my eyes opened the next morning, I looked around, feeling a bit disoriented. The events of the last 48 hours started replaying in my mind, and I groaned. I felt something shift beside me, and that’s when I noticed that I wasn’t sleeping on a pillow.
My head rested against Sterling’s chest, and his hand was around my waist. When I looked up, I saw him staring back at me. I froze for a moment.
