Chapter 9
Sofia's POV
Sterling’s attitude changed instantly as soon as we stepped out of the jet. It was as icy as the mafia king had to be. I took a deep breath and walked beside him, with Steel clinging to me. We sat in his car and drove to his mansion. It felt so weird being back in America after six years. Everything seemed strange yet familiar.
As we entered the mansion, we were greeted by several of his staff members, and finally, I came face to face with Sterling’s father. He had a strong resemblance to Sterling, just a bit shorter than him and a lot older. His eyes were locked on Steel, and I didn’t like the way he was staring at him. My arms tightened around him protectively.
“There is my dragotsennyy vnuk (precious grandson),” Sterling’s father laughed. “Come here, let me look at you.”
I refused to let Steel go. “You can look at him from afar; there is no need for him to come to you,” I challenged him.
