Amelia’s POV
Darren wasn’t supposed to be here this early. And by early, I meant before dawn.
The thought barely had time to settle before I heard his voice.
“There she is.”
I turned just in time to see him jogging toward me, a bright grin on his face, his hair messy as he had barely rolled out of bed before making the drive.
Before I could react, he reached me, his arms slipping around my waist as he lifted me off the ground slightly, pressing his lips to mine.
“Did you miss me, babe?” he murmured, smiling against my lips.
I smiled back. “Yeah.”
And it wasn’t a lie.
I had wanted him to come. I’d been hoping that as soon as I saw him, I’d feel relief—like everything would make sense again, like whatever weird feelings I had yesterday would fade away.
But they didn’t.
Because even as Darren pulled me closer, I couldn’t help it. I looked toward Adrian.
