Amelia’s POV
Adrian had ignored me for the rest of the camping trip.
And it shouldn’t have mattered.
Darren was always there, pulling me close, checking on my ankle, kissing my forehead like he had something to prove. And Kaylee was, as always, just a breath away, ready with a sarcastic remark or an inside joke to brighten my mood.
But no matter how many times I told myself I didn’t care, no matter how many times I laughed along with Darren and Kaylee, my mind kept wandering back to the boy who had once looked at me like I was something and was now acting like I was nothing.
I was ashamed to even admit that instead of agreeing to be sent home after my ankle incident, I’d insisted on staying back partly because I was concerned about Adrian’s sudden change in behavior towards me.
It wasn’t just at camp, either.
Back at school, it was like I had ceased to exist in his world.
