“Thank you so much, Granny,” I said to the elderly woman who lived beside my apartment in the Blackridge Pack as she handed me a jar of cookies.
Granny Daisy was always so nice and accommodating. She gave me food and pastries anytime she made them. At first, I used to reject them, but she never stopped offering—it was as though she knew I was depressed and desperately needed something sweet. It felt like she was silently rooting for me, telling me that I was going to overcome everything I was going through.
So I started accepting them, and so far, they suited my taste buds perfectly. I had become completely obsessed with them.
