Chapter 9

Paige’s POV

My eyelids fluttered open and I took a deep breath. I just had another horrible nightmare and this time, I was being pulled apart by a vampire. It’s been two days since I’d been in the hospital. My nights had been filled with a series of horrid and terrible nightmares but each time I woke up, the injection I was given took me back to slumberland and dropped me in the midst of another nightmare.

It was a fucking cycle that I prayed would stop but I was too sleepy to even fight sleep and stay awake. At some point, I felt a presence around me and I was able to sleep without any nightmares until the last one I had just now before I woke up.

I closed my eyes and opened them again when I realized the effect of the drugs had worn off and I was indeed awake finally without having to go back to sleep. I sat up on the hospital bed and the first thing I saw was Azel sleeping on a couch.
