Paige’s POV

Everything around me stood frozen for a moment after my mother said that. She was asking me to choose between them and my mate. They’re acting this way despite only knowing my mate was a Northerner and I can’t help but wonder how they’ll react when they learn he’s Lucien’s son. Would they kill him or would they force me to break the bond?

They’re already doing that. I knew I was going to lose either my mate or my parents by the end of the day but I thought I didn’t have to go through this. If I choose my parents, I’ll be turning my back on Gabriel forever and if I decided to stay with Gabriel, I wouldn’t be seeing my parents again. That was the toughest decision I’d ever made in my life.
