Luka's POV

"It became the valley of death,"

I scrutinized him. "What do you mean by that?"

He shrugged, paused for a minute, and walked to my desk. He removed a note from the table and suddenly stopped to stare at my laptop. Charles winked at me and gave me a suspicious smirk. I rolled my eyes immediately after I realized what he meant.

"The people that I saw called it that. I went back to the pack on my way back from the Maldives. I wanted to say hi to the Alpha after leaving him in such a terrible state but I couldn't even get close to the borders,"

"Why? What had happened?"

He sighed. "I can't say if the Alpha is still alive though because I never got to talk to him on the phone after that," I glared at him as I got more impatient. Charles has the attitude of digressing away from a topic when discussing a serious problem. He usually switches from one topic to another and gets on others' nerves.
