Chapter 151. Bonding
~Two days ago~
May, Margaret’s servant, paced through a passage in the building, her steps quick and silent, and her hands hidden within the conical sleeves of her purple dress. She looked nervous, her ocean eyes darting around, and a bead of sweat sparkling on the side of her head. The candles hanging from the passage walls illuminated the fear on her face as she walked past each one.
She walked for a few minutes and halted at a junction between another passage on her right and the one she was walking through. She let out a breath, refusing to look into the second passage, and her brows furrowed. She pulled her hands out from her sleeves, revealing a small brown envelope clamped between her right set of fingers and thumb.
“This is for Sir Alfred; it contains details of all my findings,” May said, stretching the envelope into the passage. She waited for a moment, and a left hand covered in black leather reached out of the passage for the letter.
