Alethea pushed open the carriage door, sliding it to the side to reveal a dimly lit but well-decorated interior. The windows were adorned with red velvet curtains, and the seats were cushions made from cotton and linen. Her eyes met with Desmond’s, sparing him only a cold glance before looking away. She held no anger in her heart for Desmond failing to see as she did; all that mattered now was fulfilling her promise—helping him achieve his goal before leaving forever. She wore light armor that included a golden chest piece, shoulder pads, gauntlets, and boots. Everything else underneath was made of thick, black leather, and a long sword hung at the left side of her waist.
