Chapter 157. Different Views
Desmond and Alethea knelt before each other quietly, the fruit basket sitting between them. Alethea’s eyes remained focused on the letter in her hand as she was too embarrassed to look directly at Desmond. Desmond, however, couldn’t get his eyes off her blushing face.
“I don’t understand something,” Desmond breathed, and Alethea lifted her gaze. “Why would you say someone else wrote this letter if it was actually from you? I mean, why didn’t you just say it to me directly?” Desmond teased.
“I told you; I didn’t write the letter; Muriel did. And who exactly told you that these were the kind of things girls said directly to boys?” Alethea responded, her brows furrowing in annoyance. “I don’t know how she knows all this or why she wrote it, but…” she hesitated, her gaze falling back to the letter.
“But… what?” Desmond peered into her eyes curiously, his gaze traveling between her sky-blue gems and her pink lips.
“It’s… all true,” Alethea bit her lower lip nervo
